Mr. George Herbert Coogle, Sr. passed away in the evening of Sunday, November 3, 2024. He was on Hospice care at Phoebe Sumter in Americus, GA. when he died. He is survived by four children; George H. "Chip" Coogle, Jr. (Helen), Carla Jean Coogle Stuckey, William Thomas "Tommy" Coogle (Gail) and Jon Leslie Coogle (Karen). He had 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews.
George Herbert Coogle, better known as G. H., was a very active man for his 95 years of age. He was still driving his white ford pick-up truck until he fell and broke his leg on Sunday the 6th of October. He never recovered from the surgery. G. H. loved to ride around and SURVEY his properties he owned. He was proud of his peach orchard at Whitewater and loved to go fishing at his Pond in Taylor County. In his younger days, G. H. was an astute business man. He operated T. L. Coogle Cotton Gin and Warehouse and started a pulpwood business in 1955 with his brother, Leo. This business is still owned and operated by his son, George H. Coogle, Jr.
He was predeceased by his parents, T. L. Coogle and Laura Morgan Coogle and four siblings, Thomas Joseph Coogle, Sr., Sara Coogle Gilmore, Edward C. Coogle, Sr. and Robert Leo Coogle, Sr. and a son-in-law, Phillip Stuckey.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion-St. Luke Lutheran Church in the sanctuary. Visitation will be immediately before the service from 12:45 until 1:45 pm.
Donations can be made to the Mt. Zion St. Luke Lutheran Church Foundation Fund, Americus Hospice, or a charity of your choosing.
