George Lee Baker

George Lee Baker, 63, of Leesburg, GA passed away Saturday March 9, 2024 at his residence. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Lewis and Rev. Olen Cain will officiate. Interment will follow in Thundering Springs Cemetery.

George was born in Miami, FL to Jack and Mitzie Baker. He received his GED and later enrolled in a culinary course. George was employed as an EMT and police officer through Mitchell County, GA. He later joined Autry State Prison Correctional officer and retired as a phone technician with Securus Phone Company. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years and completed the wood badge program in 2012. 


George enjoyed anything to do with the water: he was an avid fisherman and loved to scuba dive. He was very fond of motorcycles and had an immense love for God and his family.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Baker, a son Joshua Baker and daughters, Isabella Baker all of Leesburg, GA, Tara Epperson, Mitchell Co., GA, parents Jack and Mitzie Baker, Albany, Ga, brother, Jack Baker, Jr., Titusville, FL, sister, Debbie Gannon, Hope Sound, FL, two grandchildren, and God Mother, Eddie Mae Bennett, Donalsonville, GA.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
