Geneva Irvin Griffin of Albany, GA, passed away on August 3, 2012 in Atlanta, surrounded by her loving family. Geneva was the beloved widow of E.W. Griffin. She leaves behind her children:
Dr. Edmond I. Griffin, husband of Georgia Griffin, of Atlanta, Georgia, Paula Reed, wife of Gary Reed, of Albany, Georgia, Jenny Carr, wife of Johnny Carr, of Evans, Georgia, Mrs. Griffin was a native of Baker County, GA and graduated from Baker County High School and The Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA

She created a lasting legacy of happy memories with her 12 grandchildren, Genevieve (Brian) Faulk and Lauren Griffin of Tampa, FL, Edmond Griffin of Boston, MA, Chuck (Tracy) Harris and Ryan (Sarah) Harris of Tallahassee, FL, Heather (Grant) Chesnut of Carrollton, GA, Shannon (Jerry) Payne of Leesburg, GA, Jeremy (Melody) Carr, Jessie (Nick) Duke, John Carr and James Carr all of Evans, GA and Josiah Carr of Wilmington, NC and fifteen great-grandchildren,
including Eva Claire born early this week.

Her life calling was to be a channel of God's love to children in her profession and in her volunteer work. She was a first grade teacher in Dougherty County for 15 years, a volunteer first grade Sunday school teacher at Albany First Baptist Church for 50 years and served as a Pink Lady at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital . Her commitments were deep and enduring to an extent rarely seen today. Her membership in First Baptist Church has spanned over 60 years with memberships in the Dorcas-Ruth Sunday School Class and the WMU. Geneva loved people and God and served them both faithfully all of her life. Her love lives on in the lives of those she touched.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Albany on Monday, August 6th. Rev. William E. (Butch) Knight, Jr. and Jeremy Carr will officiate. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.

Visitation will be in the church vestibule immediately preceding the service beginning at 9:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the First Baptist Church of Albany, 145 Oakland Parkway, Leesburg, GA, 31763.

The family is at the residence of Paula and Gary Reed, 5805 Old Dawson Road, Albany, GA, 31707.
