Garnett Andrew (G.A.) Allen

Garnett Andrew (G.A.) Allen, 92, of Sylvester, GA died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany, GA. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 4:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Dawson, GA he was born to the late Windsor Alexander Allen, Sr. and Nora Estelle Allen. Mr. Allen moved to Albany in 1952 and was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. He was employed with Atlas Fence Company for twenty five years and was the owner of A & A Fence Company. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Earl Allen. He was the last surviving sibling of four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Mae Spillers Allen of Sylvester, GA, a daughter, Judy Hatcher and her husband, Allen of Albany, GA, four grandchildren, Kim (Patrick) Hancock of Sylvester, GA, Andy (Kristin) Hatcher of Columbus, GA, Steven (Kristina) Allen of Troy, AL and Michael Allen of Lake Wells, FL and five great-grandchildren, Reese Hancock, Owen Hancock, Taylor Hatcher, Avery Hatcher, and Alexis Allen and a sister-in-law Mabel (Bobby) Purvis Daniel of Albany, GA. Survivors also include several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
