Franklin Karl Eastman

Franklin Karl Eastman, 83 , passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Mathews Funeral Home with military honors. Jacob Eastman and Pastor Alton Burris will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson, GA.

Franklin joined the Navy in 1960 and did a few tours overseas. After leaving the Navy he began to drive trucks and he ended up loving the profession and drove for over thirty plus years. He loved to fish and tell an occasional tall tale about how big of one he caught. He loved people and never met a stranger. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He loved to tell jokes and to tell them over and over. He swore he could sing like Elvis and fight like Bruce Lee. To know him was to love him.

His proudest moment came a few years back when he gave his heart to the Lord. He would tell you about the scriptures he read each time you spoke. Rest in peace DAD, we have it from here.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Roland Eastman and Dorothea Goodman, siblings, Bruce Roland Eastman and Sherry Harrell.

Survivors include his children, Shane Sneed, Cheryl Savugot (Scott) all of Athens, TN, Franklin K. Eastman, Jr. Marysville, WA, Richard Eastman, Wichita, KS, Vinetta Walker (Sharon), Covington, GA, Rebecca Wininger, Clarksville, TN, Jacob Eastman (Stephanie), Bethlehem, GA, siblings, Vinetta "Tykie" Crisp (Terry), Dawson, GA, Gwen Goodman, Dawson, GA and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
