Frank Wood Lester, Jr., Born at home in Byromville, Georgia to Frank W. Lester, Sr. and Louisa Bundrick Lester on June 29, 1936 died on February 11, 2025.
He is predeceased by his parents, his sisters Barbara Lester Methvin (Gene), and Marianne Lester Sanders (Tom), and his son Frank Wood Lester, III.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Angela (Ferrante), his daughter, Deborah Ann and his brother, Samuel M. Lester (Stacey), a sister: Helen Lester Wall (Andy), a daughter-in-law, Angela Hardage Lester, two granddaughters Elizabeth Lester Hobbs (Adam) and Mary Lester Smith (Greg), one great grandson (Tyler Frank Hobbs) and two great granddaughters (Mason June Smith and McKay Reed Smith).
He attended Byromville High School through 11th grade, and when it was no more attended and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1953. Frank graduated from Abraham Baldwin College, and attended the University of Georgia where he pursued a degree in Agriculture. While in college he joined the United States Army Reserve, and after college he switched to the Georgia Army National Guard, leaving with the rank of captain. He was a farmer first, then an agricultural equipment dealer, then an irrigation specialist. After his working years he retired in Montezuma, Georgia, and enjoyed his family during which time he was an avid, but not good, golfer.
Graveside services will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jonathan Beckum and Sam Lester will officiate.
A visitation will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am before the service at The Montezuma Methodist Church with a procession to cemetery to follow.
