Frances Stoddard Dunn

Frances Stoddard Dunn, 94, a resident for many years at Morningside of Albany, Georgia, died on August 17, 2017. A memorial service will be held at Gillionville Baptist Church on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 4:00 PM. The family will be holding private graveside services at the family cemetery in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 where she will be interred alongside her husband, the late Edward D. Dunn, Jr. Mrs. Dunn was the daughter of Francis R. Stoddard, Jr. and Eleanor W. Stoddard of New York City and Cold Spring Harbor, New York. She was born in New York City, graduating from Chapin School and Finch Junior College. She also attended Barnard College. During World War II she worked at Gibbs & Cox, designers of Liberty Ships, then several years at CBS. She was married to the late Edward D. Dunn, Jr., moving to Albany, Georgia where she assisted him in his business. She was blessed with four wonderful children, Sherburne W. Dunn and wife Sandie of Olathe, Kansas, Townsend H. Dunn and wife Deborah of Wayne, Pennsylvania, Abigail A. Dunn of Nashville, Tennessee, and Katherine D. Gray and husband Charles of Scottsdale, Arizona, who all together blessed her with fifteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Mrs. Dunn was a member of the National Colonial Dames of America, the Mayflower Society, the Daughters of the Cincinnati, and the Commodore Richard Dale Chapter of the DAR, where she was a past regent. For many years she was active in the John Birch Society. For several years she was the birthday lady at Gillionville Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, and she was very active in arranging bible studies and church services at Morningside of Albany. She loved encouraging people to know her Savior. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Gillionville Baptist Church, 4614 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31721.
