Florice Vereen Smith

Florice Vereen Smith, 90, of Albany, GA died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Michael Littleton will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Moultrie, GA.

A native of Worth Co., GA, Mrs. Smith grew up in Moultrie, GA and graduated from Moultrie High School in 1939. She had resided in Albany since 1953 and retired as manager of Friedlander's after twenty years. Mrs. Smith was a member of Porterfield United Methodist Church and was the widow of C. Earl Smith.

Survivors include three daughters, Faye Godwin and her husband, Frank of Dallas, GA, Earlene Stabner and (the late, Stan Stabner) of Cartersville, GA and Carolyn Turner and her husband, Tim of Albany, GA, seven grandchildren, Greg Benefield of Marietta, GA, Mark Benefield and his wife, Dee of Cartersville, GA, Stan Stabner, Jr. and his wife, Marina of Toronto, Canada, David Godwin and his wife, Lori of Leesburg, GA, Darrin Godwin and his wife, Kasandra of Cartersville, GA, Holly Moore, Mendy Kirby (J.R. Hembree) all of Leesburg, GA, thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, survivors also include nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
