Florence Ann Holmes

Florence Ann Holmes, 74, of Albany, GA, died December 31, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Melvin Slappy will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Greenwood Lake, NY, Mrs. Holmes moved to California when she was grown. There, she met her late husband Earnest Floyd Holmes while he was stationed in the Military. She was a military wife and she and her young family traveled to numerous bases before moving to Albany, GA in 1978. Mrs. Holmes was a homemaker and was formerly employed with Publix as a Cake Decorator. She was a member of Kinchafoonee Baptist Church and enjoyed Crocheting. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dawane Holmes, Jr.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Holmes and Dawane Holmes, Sr. both of Albany, GA, two sisters, Elsie Pollock and Francis (Randy) Culberson all of Lee County, GA, two grandchildren, Nicholas Holmes of Albany, GA and Michael Kippert of McCrae, GA and two great-grandchildren, Mark Kippert and Selena Holmes.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2018 at Mathews Funeral Home.
