Evelyn Preston Phillips, 88, of Albany, Ga passed away September 4th, peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on May 3rd, 1930, to the late Ed and Violet Preston on Donalsonville, Ga, Evelyn was a dedicated wife and mother. After working 26 years with Kmart, she retired and began gardening with her husband. She loved growing all things flowers and vegetables. Her enjoyment in life was sharing her hobbies like sewing and thrifting with her family. There was never a dull moment for the grandchildren spending weekends in the country with their Granny. When she wasn’t home, she and her husband were together in Florida fishing.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Herbert" Phillips, brother, Homer Preston and youngest son, Albert “Keith” Phillips. She is survived by her son, William “Bill” Franklin Phillips, her two daughters, Sheila Diane Poitevint and Karen Violet Phillips. Grandchildren include Misty Dawn Holman, Thomas “TJ” Jackson, Carrie Preston Malone, Kimberly Prieto, Chelsie Neri, Nicole Laska, Abert “AJ” Phillips, and great grandchildren, Bailey Malone & Amarah Phillips.
The family would like to thank their dear friend, Meloney Morris for caring for Evelyn during her time of sickness.
There will be a private memorial Saturday, Sept. 14th at Floral Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to Hospice.
