Mrs. Eunice Plowden Greene of Albany died Wednesday, May 15th, 2019. Visitation will be Friday, May 17th at 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm. Both services with be held at Mathews Funeral Home. The burial will be private. The Rev Keith Alderman will officiate.
Mrs. Greene was born in Fort Gaines GA to the late Robert Franklin and Mattie Thompson Plowden. She was also predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Arden Roy Greene (May 1999), four sisters, and two brothers.
She married Arden Greene in 1951, and they moved to Albany where they were both employed with Turner Air Force Base. Mrs. Greene was retired from Gillespie Interiors and Ward's Interiors of Albany.
She was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church since the mid-1950s. Mrs. Greene was a member of the Joy Sunday School class, taught 3rd grade Sunday School for many years, was involved in the church Girls Auxiliary (GAs) program, helped with the annual Vacation Bible School, and participated in the nursing home outreach ministries.
Mrs. Greene is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Emily Greene and Debbie and Jim Blanchard. She is also, survived by many nieces and nephews, most of whom refer to her as 'Aunt Noonie'.
The family gratefully acknowledges the kindnesses and compassion of Mrs. Greene's care to Michelle Morton, The Oaks caregivers, and the Phoebe Willson Hospice House.
