Eugene Loren (Gene) McCoy, 73, of Albany, GA died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Dr. William D. (Biff) Coker will officiate. Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors.
Born in Pikeville, KY, Mr. McCoy had resided in Albany, GA since 1969 moving from Atlanta, GA.
He was veteran of the Viet Nam War serving in the Marine Corps, a self-employed commercial contractor and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Gene loved his God; he not only studied God's word, but lived it. His family was his greatest love and treasure. He was a gentle, quiet man whose kindness to others was only surpassed by his devotion to his God and family.
Survivors include his wife, Donna McCoy, a son, Jason McCoy both of Albany, GA, three daughters, Kelley McCoy, Madison, NC, Malinda Hill (Dave) and Lena Waldrop both of Albany, GA, three grandchildren, Savannah Collins, George Truitt Waldrop and Drew Davidson Hill, IV all of Albany, GA, a sister, Rose Jones of Cincinnati, OH, three brothers, Clark McCoy and Freddie McCoy both of Pikeville, KY and Chester McCoy, Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday at Covenant Presbyterian Church one hour prior to services.
