Eric Felix Allman

Eric Felix Allman, 59, of Rome, GA, died Wednesday, Sept 16, 2015 at Kindred Hospital. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home located at 3206 Gillionville Rd Albany, Georgia. A graveside service will be held Monday at Salem Seminole Cemetery in Desser, GA at 11:00 AM.
Born in El Paso, TX to the late L. Burns and Dorothy Allman, Eric graduated from Dougherty High School in 1974. He attended the University of Georgia majoring in secondary education. He worked his way up with the City of Albany Recreation and Parks Department eventually serving as the Athletic Director. He left Albany for his love of baseball and served several MLB minor league teams in management roles throughout Georgia and North Carolina. In fall of 2002, he joined the Rome Braves as the Director of Stadium Operations and helped to oversee the construction of the State Mutual Stadium and the Rome Braves program. He remained with the Rome Braves as Director of Stadium Operations until his passing.
Eric had a great smile accompanied with a batch of homemade cookies that made everyone around him feel welcomed and nurtured. He loved baseball, nature and animals. However, there was no love greater than he had for his faithful four-legged son, Caesar, who passed in July at age 11. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda K. Peek and Beverly C. Brown.
Survivors include three sisters, Alethea Gray of TX, Ruth McCranie, and Paula Goldben both of Thomasville, GA, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Tim Ramirez, Jackson Abercrombie, Kyle Doegg, Branson Goldben, Clint Chastain, and Brandon Elrod.
