Elton Eugene Baker

Elton Eugene Baker, 93, of Albany died Tuesday, July 10, 2018.  His funeral service will be Friday 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home with interment to follow in Floral Memory Gardens.  Rev. Paul Mason and Rev. Ken Chancellor will officiate.

Mr. Baker was born in Thomas County, GA on October 9, 1924 to W. H. Baker and Callie Branch Baker and he was a graduate of Albany High School.  He served in the U S Navy during World War II and retired from the Georgia National Guard at the rank of Major after twenty-seven years of service.

He worked with the city of Albany Water, Gas and Light for twenty-nine years and retired from Mitchell EMC as District Manager in Worth County in 1988. 

Mr. Baker was of the Baptist faith teaching Sunday School for over fifty years and at the time of his death was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.  His wife, Jewel Barker and son, Dale Baker preceded in him in death.

Survivors include his son, Robert Baker and his wife, Liane, Albany, his grandchildren, Paul Baker, Amy Baker, Caleb Baker and Callie Baker.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
