Elizabeth Germaine Ross, 95, of Albany, GA, died July 3, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. Rev. Finbar Stanton will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A native of Bellville, IL, she was born to Edward and Cathernine Germiane March 29, 1920. Elizabeth met her late husband, John H. Ross in Booneville MO and they moved to Moultrie, GA in 1945. In 1946, they moved to Albany, GA where they raised their family and both worked at Savelle Jewelry Store. Elizabeth and her late husband later founded and operated the original John Ross Jewelers in downtown Albany until their retirement in 1985. She was an active member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church and a member of The Craft Group.
After retirement, Elizabeth moved to Lake Eufaula with her husband and enjoyed 20 years at the lake before returning to Albany, GA in 2005.
Survivors include her two daughters, Phyllis Ross Speir and her husband, James of Leesburg, GA and Betsy Ross Cox and her husband, Steve of Dawson, GA, her grandchildren, Sharon (Danny) Silva of Kathleen, GA, Lisa (Todd) Kieffer of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer (Jim) Sutherland of Albany, GA, Dylan (Amy) Cox of Savannah, GA, Gavin (Cerise) Cox of Dallas, GA, Amy Ross (Tony) Davis of Leesburg, GA and Hank (Lisa) Ross of Cumming, GA and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
A very special thank you to her caregiver, Amanda Sizemore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Ross, her son, John C. Ross and her daughter-in-law, Maggie Dixon Ross and son-in-law, Toe Reaves.
The family will receive friends at Mathews Funeral Home Tuesday evening, July 7, 2015 from 6 until 7:30 and Wednesday before the funeral Mass in the Gathering Room at St. Teresa's Catholic Church.
