Elizabeth E. Nichols, 94, of Albany, GA, passed away peacefully at Fountainview Center for Alzheimer’s Disease on Sunday, March 13, 2022. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on March 26, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
Elizabeth was born on March 31, 1927 to Walter C. Embry and Fannie C. Pierce Embry in Gresston, GA. She opened Trinity Travel in downtown Albany in 1977 and shared her love for travel with the community for over thirty-five years. She was also a foster parent working with Dougherty County Family and Children Services for over ten years to provide for children in need. She volunteered and participated with many community organizations including: the Boys and Girls Club of Albany, Kiwanis, Thronateeska Heritage Center, Chehaw Park Authority and SOWEGA Council on Aging. She was a history buff, loved to fish and was a great example to all of how to live life to its fullest.
Elizabeth leaves behind two sisters, Opal Winebrenner of Miami, FL and Hester Price of Americus, GA three children, Commella Landis of Canton, GA, William Denson of Albany, GA and Clark Montoya (Laura) of Cumming, GA, three grandchildren, Michael Landis (Madeline) of Milton, GA, Elizabeth Landis of Canton, GA, Jordan Denson (Amber) of Albany, GA and five great-grandchildren, and two foster daughters Connie Carter, of Albany, GA and Rebecca Francis (David) of Pinehurst, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Fannie Embry, her spouse, Nelvie Nichols, seven siblings, Pierce Embry, Tom Embry, Curtis Embry, Marguerite Tanner, Martha McClanahan, Sue Killus and Ellen Stokes.
