Helen Elaine "Meme" Arnett, of Lee County, passed away at her daughter’s residence on December 22, 2024, at the age of 73. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024,at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Jim Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service 

Born on October 29, 1951, in Sumter County, Georgia, raised in Plains, Ga., to the late E.C. “Eck” and Mary Helen Paul Everett. Elaine dedicated a significant part of her career to RPM Corporation, where she served as the office manager. 

In her younger years, Elaine enjoyed playing softball, she also cherished the moments spent taking cruises, one of her fondest memories was her secret adventures to the casinos. She had a passion for the outdoors, often riding the boat with her family and exploring the countryside with her fiancé Mark, on their side-by-side.

Elaine had a special talent for cooking, particularly lasagna, no-bake cookies, red velvet cake and salmon croquettes, which she lovingly prepared for her sons-in-law. Fishing brought her relaxation and happiness, and she was rarely seen without her cigarettes in hand, enjoying the simple pleasures life offered.Elaine also enjoyed the time spent as a member of the Albany Moose Lodge #1285 and VFW Post 2785.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Willie Arnett, and her sister Donna Everrett Smith. 

Survivors include her daughters, Tammi Payton (Brooks) of Mesquite, TX, and Kimberly Storey (Terry) of Lee County, GA. She is also survived by her step-sons, George Arnett of Roswell, GA, and Chris Arnett (Amanda) of Chatsworth, GA, her fiancé, Mark Johnson of Alma, GA, her grandchildren, Ashley Ethridge (Zac) of Dallas, TX, Jessica Chambers (Chase) of Sumner, GA, Drue Umphurs (Tristen) of Sneads, FL, Savannah Johnson of Tifton, GA., and Dekota Arnett of Chatsworth, GA, great-grandchildren, Vanesa, Cash, Ella, Liam, and soon to be Hallie, her sister, Carroll Gosa of Smithville, GA, as well as her nieces Jennifer Smith and Julie Smith, and her nephew Jason Arnett.
