Edythe Ellen Harrold

Edythe Ellen Harrold age 90 passed peacefully on March 11, 2025 at the Willson Hospice House in Albany, GA. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Minister Faron Hamner will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Crown Hill Mausoleum.

She is survived by her Husband Claud E. Harrold, Sr. of 74 years, daughter Dianne Gorman (Bill), sons Claud E. Harrold, Jr, and Robert E. Harrold (Susan). Edythe felt she was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Dianne’s children - Annie, Paula, Lori, Keri, Sean, Claud, Jr’s children – Michael and Kelsey, and Robert’s children – Brian and Nina. Edythe also had 20 great grandchildren: Sebastian, Drake, Bella, Phoenix, Graham, Amelia, Oliver, Loghan, Abigail, Addison, Allie, Anniston, Erin, Kinley, Colton, Rylee, Patrick, Grayson, Elijah and Olivia.

Edythe Ellen Poovey was born in Granite Falls, NC on April 1st,1934. She married Claud in Granite Falls on December 4th 1950. Edythe followed him around the country and world during his Air Force career. Edythe was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charlie Cleveland Poovey and Violet Lou Alice Poovey, 4 brothers, Earl, Harold, Charles and Harry, sister Ann and daughter in law Cindy Harrold. Edythe was a bank teller for over 30 years and touched many lives through that industry. She was a faithful Christian servant, and example to all. She taught Bible classes for children for most of her adult life. She was always one to clean up and serve others as long as she was physically able. She had a great sense of humor, after all she was born on April Fool’s Day.Edythe will be missed by family, friends and all who knew her. Rest in peace dear one!
