Edward Boyd "Ed" Stephenson, Jr.

Edward Boyd (Ed) Stephenson, Jr., 92, of Leesburg, GA passed away, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at The Oaks at Oakland Plantation. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Mausoleum.

Ed moved with his family to Albany in 1942.  He attended Albany High School and joined the Army Air Corps in 1947 and remained until 1950 when he was honorably discharged,  He began employment with Southern Bell shortly thereafter and retired in 1986.  Ed was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.  Ed loved flying and obtained his private pilots license in 1963.  He owned two planes.  He was a member of the Albany Aero Club and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mickie Butler Stephenson, son, Jimmy Stephenson and his wife Selina Coleman Stephenson and a brother, Henry James Stephenson, Rock Hill, SC.

The family will receive friends at Mathews Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
