Dr. William Don Bush

Dr. William Don Bush, 81, of Albany, GA, died April 3, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor will officiate. Interment will follow at Clayton Cemetery in Clayton, AL at 5:00 PM CST, Rev. Bill Brown will officiate.

A native of Clayton, AL, born to the late Walter Clifton Bush and Mildred Virginia Trawick Bush, Dr. Bush had resided Blakely, GA before moving to Albany, GA in 1972. He was a graduate of Clayton High School, and a 1954 graduate of the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University).

Dr. Bush was the former owner of Bush Animal Clinic and practiced veterinary medicine in Blakely, GA and Albany, GA for forty six years. He was a member and past president of the Veterinary Advisory Board, the State Board of Veterinary Medicine and helped to form The Academy of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bush was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and was named Veterinarian of The Year by the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association in 2003.

Dr. Bush was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, the Dougherty County Kiwanis Club and served on the Board of Directors of The Anchorage. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Byrd Bush.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Bush of Albany, GA, two sons, Walter Lamar Bush and his wife, Shay Evans Bush of Watkinsville, GA and William Don (Bill) Bush of Eufaula, AL, a daughter, Paige Bush Foster and her husband, Chad of Madison, GA, a brother, Neil Bush of Clayton, AL and four grandchildren, Jay Bush, Victoria Bush, Graham Foster and Mason Foster.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Mabel Haley Parlor at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church.
