Dr. Ron Bradley Holman, 49, of Leesburg, GA, entered heaven September 5, 2017 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Albany, GA. Dr. William E. (Butch) Knight will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Ron was born on August 25, 1968 in Decatur, GA. He grew up in Marietta, GA, graduating from Walton High School in 1986. Ron earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Technical Institute in 1989. Ron studied at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity degree in 1993, a Master of Theology degree in 2007, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2007. Ron’s life calling was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In fulfilling that call Ron served our Lord for over twenty-five years in the local church. His places of service include serving as a ministry intern at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta, GA; as a youth pastor at Oak Park Baptist Church in Algiers, LA; as senior pastor at Perryville Baptist Church in Perryville, KY; as a pastor of married young adults at First Baptist Church of Orlando, FL; as an associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Albany, GA. Ron also worked for NOBTS as Director of Alumni Relations as a doctoral student and was serving as the seminary’s National Alumni President at the time of his passing. After an extended battle with cancer, Ron passed to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 5, 2017 at the age of 49. Ron’s survivors include his wife of twenty-three years, Stacy G. Holman; their three children, Rylan Bradley Holman, Raley Lynn Holman and Raegan Lynnsy Holman all of Leesburg, GA; his parents, Ray and Carroll Holman of Big Canoe, GA; five siblings, Tad Holman and Todd (Traci) Holman all of Woodstock, GA, Robert (Pam) Holman of Big Canoe, GA, Robin (Patrick) Fox of Acworth, GA and Ryan Holman of Big Canoe, GA; Stacy’s parents, Beth Gordon of Raymond, MS and Tim Gordon of Terry, MS; a large extended family; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Albany from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also an hour before the service at the church. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers those desiring to remember Ron may do so by making contributions to the Ron Holman Evangelism Scholarship Fund c/o New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 3939 Gentilly Blvd., New Orleans, LA, 70126; to the “Extended Journey” fund at First Baptist Church of Albany, 145 Oakland Parkway, Leesburg, GA, 31763; or to the “Ron Holman Family Fund,” account # 1010885935, at SB&T Bank, 1251 US Highway 82, Leesburg, GA 31763.
