Dr. Laurence Tarver Crimmins, DVM, MD, 92, of Albany, GA died Friday January 4, 2019 at the Willson Hospice House. Visitation will be Tuesday January 8, 2019 1:00 PM First United Methodist Church of Albany in Ford Hall. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary. Rev. Thad Haygood and Rev. Scott Stanfill will officiate.

Born October 5, 1926 in Macon, GA to Timothy Edward Crimmins, Sr. and Martha Young Crimmins, Dr. Crimmins graduated from Lanier High School in 1943. He attended Georgia Tech for one year before he enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps in November 1944 and discharged in March 1945. He attended the University of Georgia in 1946 and was in the first class to graduate from the School of Veterinary Science in 1950. He returned to Macon, GA and opened a veterinary practice. In 1953, he joined the faculty at the University of Georgia Veterinary School where he taught veterinary pathology. In 1959, he applied to Medical College of Georgia and graduated in 1963. He and his family moved to Albany, GA in 1964 and he opened his first practice. He closed his office in 1993 to become a founding faculty member of the Phoebe Family Medicine Residency. He retired in 2006.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Albany. He was a member of The University of Georgia Gridiron, University of Georgia Sphinx Club, University of Georgia Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Medical College of Georgia Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He was a volunteer physician for the Kiwanis Clinic for twenty five years. He was one of the founding fathers of Deerfield Windsor School and formerly served as the chairman of the board. He was an Emeritus Master Mason and was a member of Macon Lodge #5 F & AM. Doc was President of the Dougherty County Medical Society and was Chief of Staff at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. He served as chairman of the board for Phoebe 1991-1992, was a Phoebe Health Systems board member and was named Family Physician of the Year in 1999 by Georgia Academy of Family Physicians.

Survivors include his wife of sixty two years, Ann Talley Crimmins, Albany, GA, his son, Timothy (Tim) Edward Crimmins II (Alanda) Leesburg, GA, three grandchildren, Chad Crimmins, Albany, GA, Erin Anderson (Chris) Leesburg, GA, Lauren Caserio (Jason) Leesburg, GA, six great-grandchildren, Carson Crimmins, Logan Crimmins, Blakely Aultman, Hudson Caserio, Reed Anderson, and Laney Anderson and one sister, Margaret Slocumb, Macon, GA. He was preceded in death by siblings, Seaton Crimmins, Edna Arelano, Jerome (Jerry) Crimmins, Timothy (Ned) Edward Crimmins, Jr., Roselyn Uptegraff, Alice Williams and Eleanor Crimmins.
