Dorothy Jean Pavy, 87, of Albany, GA, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Cook and Rev. Grady Morey will officiate. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of Jennifer and Brent Rigsby, 1200 Riverpoint Drive, Albany, GA 31701.
Mrs. Pavy was born and raised in Sylvester, GA, and had resided in Albany all of her adult life. She was a member of numerous organizations including Albany Women's Club, The Red Hat Society, Happy Hearts, American Legion Post 30, and a Phoebe Putney Volunteer. Mrs. Pavy was a charter member of Sherwood Baptist Church and more recently a member of Gillionville Baptist Church. After retirement from the Marine Corps Logistics Base of Albany, she and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the world. They visited all 50 states and numerous countries. Another one of her favorite pastimes was music whether it was listening, dancing, or watching a show. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Pavy, her parents, Myrtice Gregory Aldred and Thomas Eric Aldred.
Survivors include her daughter Debbie (David) Phelps of Camilla, GA, Grandchildren Jennifer (Brent) Rigsby, of Albany, GA, Caroline (Sonny) Glenn of Moultrie, GA, Rebecca (Richie) Ford of New Braunfels, TX, and David (Anne) Phelps of Fitzgerald, GA, great-grandchildren Katherine, Brett, Madeleine, Elizabeth, and John Allen Rigsby, Garrison, Jackson, Hudson, and Chason Glenn, Allison, Matthew, and Andrew Ford, and Eley and Carley Phelps, as well as her loving caregivers Kerri and Mike Hitt, and Carol Rice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Gillionville Baptist Church, 4614 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA, 31721.
