Dorothy Melba Norman

Dorothy Melba Norman, 85, of Lee County, GA, died March 9, 2014 at Phoebe North Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Putney United Methodist Church. Pastor Cathy Green will officiate. Committal services will follow at 2:30 PM at Lebanon Cemetery in Pavo, GA.

Born and raised in Pavo, GA, Mrs. Norman was born to the late Zera F. and Nellie Mae Cooper. She resided in Moultrie, GA and was employed with General Telephone as an operator before she married Cecil F. Norman and moved to Putney, GA in 1959.

She raised her family in Putney and was employed with the Dougherty County School System for twenty one years as a school bus driver. Mrs. Norman had resided in Lee County, GA since 1997 and was a member of Putney United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her brother Albert Randall Cooper.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil F. Norman, a daughter and her husband, Brenda and Rick McMillan all of Lee County, GA, three sons, Mike Norman and his wife, Donna of Fitzgerald, GA, Chris Norman and his wife, Anne of Albany, GA and Don Norman of Albany, GA, a brother, Clinton Wayne Cooper of Pavo, GA, seven grandchildren, Kayla Norman, Josh Norman, Trent McMillan, Wesley McMillan, Lindsay Norman, Cory Norman and Allie Norman and one great-grandson, Seth Sutton.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
