Dorothy Jean Mathis

Dorothy Jean Mathis, 72, of Albany, GA died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Roger Tillery and Rev. Terry Mack will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Born in Baldwin, FL, Dorothy had resided in Albany, GA all of her life. She was formerly employed with Mama Jean's Restaurant and retired from Dougherty County School System at Merry Acres Middle School. She was preceded in death by her parents, William S. Mathis, Sr. and Mary Finger Coleman and a daughter, Mary Caulder.

Survivors include her husband, John M. Bodrey, Jr., Albany, GA,, four sons, Bennie Evans, JR. (Tammy), Sylvester, GA, Dale Evans (Linda), Albany, GA, Michael Evans, Sr. (Melissa), Sylvester, GA, Raymond Evans, Albany, GA, two daughters, Jan Rogers (Paul), Sylvester, GA, Gloria Collins, Albany, GA, three brothers, William S. "Billy" Mathis, Jr. (Linda), Leesburg, GA, Lee Mathis, Albany, GA, Robert Dow (Dawn), Palm Bay, FL, three sisters, Jane Waldron, LaVergne, TN, Lavern Light (Tom), Fredericksburg, TX, Brenda Adams, Smithville, GA, twenty eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
