Dorothy Louise Cortez

Dorothy Louise Cortez, 57, of Albany, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Mathews Funeral Home and Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 2, 2015 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Rev. Bill Suggs will officiate.

Mrs. Cortez was born in Albany GA and lived here most of her life. She was an active member at Southside Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and actively participated in their Missionary Outreach Program.

Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Cortez and her fiance Shawn Casey of Dawson, GA, a son, Chris Cortez and his wife Johanna of Epworth, GA, two brothers, David Connell and his fiance Emily Storey of Albany, GA and Richard Connell and his wife Kimberly of Baconton, GA, Grandchildren Christina Casey, Savannah Casey, Elijah Casey all of Albany, GA, Lillian Cortez, Alaina Spencer and Will Spencer of Epworth, GA, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elise Barfield Connell and Pate Aldolfus Connell, two brothers, Johnny and Eddie Connell and an infant Son.
