Dorothy Aines

Dorothy C. Aines, 87, of Leesburg, GA, died May 25, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bruce English will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Aines was born in Statesboro, GA on September 7, 1931 to the late Worth and Alma Skinner. She married her late husband, Maxwell L. Aines, Sr. They moved to Albany, GA in 1969. Mrs. Aines was a homemaker and mother but also was employed with the Marine Corps Logistic Base in Albany. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Albany and was involved in their flower ministry for many years. As a life-long ministry, Mrs. Aines enjoyed checking on shut-ins and residents in local nursing homes. She also loved working in her yard.

Survivors include her children, Max (Melanie) Aines, Jr. of Brunswick, GA, Alma (Jonathan Williams) Emanuel of Leary, GA and Kevin (Debbie Fisher) Aines of Woodstock, GA, son-in-law, Jeff (Gloria) Cox, Poulan, GA, her grandchildren, Robin (Randall) Hester of Lee County, GA, Matthew (Jenna) Cox of Franklin, TN, Mark Cox of Tifton, GA and Carter Sutton Aines of Richmond, VA, a sister, Jean Cartee of Statesboro, GA and her great-grandchildren, Brittany Woods, Davis Cox, Judah Cox, Finley Cox and Carsyn Cox, five nieces and five nephews, and a close friend, Susan Spradley who she considered a daughter.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
