Doris Watson Williams, 102, of Dawson passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Dawson Manor.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pastor Henry Lee Young officiated the service with family remarks presented by Melaina Gilley.
Affectionately known as “Miss Doris” by her friends and “Anmaw” by her family, she was born in Worth County. She met the love of her life, Joseph A. Williams at Acorn Pond Baptist Church while at a dinner and singing on the grounds. She lived most of her life in Terrell County and retired from Almark Mills after thirty years of dedicated service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Williams, parents, Tom and Ruth Souter Watson, brother, Roy Watson, son, Charles Williams, and grandson, Allen Kreitz.
She was a proud matriarch of a large family. Survivors include her children, Joann Kreitz, Dawson, Delores Davis of Walhalla, SC, Larry Williams, Ellaville, Gloria Fincher Thompson, Albany, Joel Williams, Leesburg, twenty grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, twenty-three great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild, her brother, Wallace Watson, Tallapoosa, her sister, Jean Brown, Panama City, FL along with many beloved nieces and nephews
The family will receive the family 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Mathews Funeral Home.
