Doris Kelly Johnson

Doris Kelly Johnson of Leesburg, GA., died Friday, December 22, 2023 at Pruitt Health Palmyra. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Buck Morgan will officiate. Interment will follow at Thundering Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Cordele, GA., Mrs. Johnson has lived in Lee County for many years. She was a talented seamstress and was a babysitter for quite a few children in Lee County. Mrs. Johnson loved flowers and her animals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lake Buford and Essie Kelly, her husband, James Waylon Johnson and her siblings, Dorothy Kelly Watson, Marvin B. Kelly, Eugene Kelly and Robert Kelly. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Thundering Springs Baptist Church for over forty years, she loved the Lord and her Sunday school class.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Lynn Johnson Spindle (Ben), two sons, Jeffrey Wayne Johnson (Rita) and Richard Kelly Johnson, her grandchildren, Megan Spindle Breeze, Rebecca Elizabeth Johnson and Walker Kelly Johnson and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Pruitt Hospice of Cordele and the fifth-floor staff of Pruitt Health Palmyra for the care they gave Mrs. Johnson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
