Donnie E. Butler
Donnie Eugene Butler, 77, of Lee County, GA passed away, Thursday, April 4, 2024 in Georgetown, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Carter will officiate. Interment will follow in Vincent United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2686 Bluffton Rd., Edison, GA, 39846.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Barney Lewis Butler and Annie Lorraine Hurst Butler, his wife, Joyce Faye Collier Butler and brothers, Devon Butler and Johnny Butler.
Survivors include his son, Dr. Donnie E. Butler, Jr. and his wife Holley, Lee Co., GA, brother, Tony Butler and his wife Betty, Athens, GA, sister, Dinah Gay, Albany, GA, grandchild, Noah Butler and a number of nieces and nephews.
Donnie was born in Albany, GA and after graduation from Calhoun County High School, Donnie served in the United States Army for four years. Donnie was employed with Georgia Power as a lineman for thirty years and retired at age fifty five.
He loved fishing, hunting and playing golf especially with Noah. Donnie was an amazing cook and well known for his fish fries and enjoyed being with family and friends and his greatest joy was being a grandpa.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 8, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
