Donald F. Olin, 94, of Albany, GA, died October 6, 2014 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, GA. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church with Masonic Rites. Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.

A native of Philadelphia, PA, born to the late Donald and Gertrude Olin, he worked in the Philadelphia Ship Yard before enlisting in the United States Navy during World War II, serving aboard the submarine tender USS Dixon (AS 4) at the end of the war in the Pacific Theatre. After the war he had a career with RCA later known as General Electric. Upon retiring from GE he moved to Albany, GA in 1973 from Summerdale, NJ and was employed with the Marine Corps Logistic Base until his retirement in 1990.

Mr. Olin was a faithful member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church and the Alpha Sunday School Class. He was a member and Past Master of Dougherty Lodge # 591 F & AM and served as Chaplain for many years. Mr. Olin was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason, served as SGIG for the Valley of Albany and also served as Treasurer of The Red Cross of Constantine.

He was a member of Tri-County Memorial club and the Hasan Shrine Center where he served on the Ritual Cast. Mr. Olin was Chairman of the Transportation Committee at Hasan Shrine Center for Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa, FL and was also a member of and Past Director of the Royal Order of The Jester Court # 195. Mr. Olin assisted many children through his service with the Shrine Center.

Mr. Olin was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Devir Olin, two brothers, Walter Olin and Raymond Olin.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Mask Olin of Albany, GA, two daughters, Jackie Gross and her husband, Doug of Gastonia, NC and Linda Speak and her husband, Bud of Louisville, KY, a step-daughter, Terry Norris Avera and her husband, Dave of Leesburg, GA, four step-sons, James Lee Norris, Jr and his wife, Diane of Americus, GA, Steven Lewis Norris and his wife, Carol of Warner Robins, GA, David Oliver Norris and his wife, Jessica of Noblesville, IN and Scott Allen Houston and his wife, Stacy of Tallahassee, FL , a sister, Jean Lerro of Westchester, PA, nineteen grandchildren and many-many great-grandchildren. He was dearly loved by all of his family and many friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
