Donald Cobb Merritt

Donald Cobb Merritt, 65, of Lee Co., GA died Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.  Rev. Charles Jones will officiate.  A private interment will be at Springvale-Morris Cemetery in Randolph Co., GA. 

Born in Albany, GA, Mr. Merritt lived in Springvale, GA, Cuthbert, GA, and Albany, GA.  He graduated from Albany High School and Darton College.  He worked in the timber industry as a Forester for 40+ years.  In his free time he enjoyed photography, deep sea fishing, and quail hunting.  His real passion was music and his guitars.  He played acoustic, electric, and bass guitars and played in several bands around Albany. 

Survivors include his two daughters, Jessica Locke (Chip), Cumming, GA, Emily Merritt, Columbus, GA, his mother Betty Jane Cobb Merritt, Albany, GA, and a grandson, Parker Locke.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
