Donald (D.J.) J. Carter

Donald Jerome (D.J.) Carter, 70, of Albany, GA, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Harris will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Born in Moultrie GA, DJ moved to Albany as a child. After graduation Donald served in the US Air Force. Working originally for Western Union and continuing as a communications contractor for the Department of Defense aboard the USMC Logistics Base from which he retired. Ending DoD service with a final position in Pirmasens, Germany. He is proceeded in death by his wife of 35 years Wynell Summerford Carter and his parents Columbus and Marie Carter of Albany GA, brother David Eugene Carter and niece Judith Carter.

DJ is survived by a brother John Jim Carter and wife Barbara of Roanoke Rapids NC and nieces Marie Carter Warren, Susan Carter, Donna Lorence and Susan Ranspach. Also survived by sister-n-law Ernestine Summerford Hayes of Leesburg Ga and niece Rene Knowles and nephew James Hayes with extended family in SC, GA, AL, and FL.
Pallbearers: Friend Jimmy Clark, nephews; Val Summerford, Jimmy Hayes, Eric Reese, Andrew Lovelace and Daniel Lovelace.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
