Dock Hartley, Jr.

Dock Hartley, Jr., 87, of Lee County, GA, died October 25, 2017 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.  Pastor Carl Barnhart will officiate.  Interment will follow on Wednesday at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Apopka, FL.

A native of Lee County, GA, he was one of nine children born to the late Dock and Annie Hartley.  Mr. Hartley moved to Apopka, FL in 1968 and was a self-employed truck driver.  After his wife death, Ruth Johnson Hartley in 2000, he moved back to Lee County.  He was a Baptist by faith and when at Church of other places, because of distributing candy, he was known as the Candy Man to children and adults alike.  Mr. Hartley enjoyed people and dining at different restaurants near and far. He was preceded in death by his daughter Gail Hartley.

Survivors include his sons, Carl and his wife Gloria Hartley, Lee County, GA, Robert Griffin, Thomasville, GA, Eddie Burton, PA, his daughter, Ruth Ann Burton, FL, his brother, Harold and his wife Beth Hartley, Lee County, GA, his sister-in-law, Geraldine Hartley, FL, his grandchildren, Joey Hartley, Jennifer Hartley, Robbie Griffin, Jr, Melissa Griffin, Jason Sexton, and Stevie Sexton, and his great-grandchildren, Makayla Hartley, Karlee Martin and Taylor Sexton.
