Diane Suess Kelly, 62, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Avalon United Methodist Church. Rev. Bobby Brooks will officiate. A private family interment will follow.
Diane was born in St. Cloud, MN to Marylene and Lambert Suess and moved to Albany, GA at the age of three. She attended St. Teresa's Catholic School in her youth and graduated from Westover High School in 1973. In 2015, she obtained her diploma in Business Technology from Albany Technical College. Diane was best described as a sweet soul who loved all people and animals. She never met a person or animal she did not try to help or comfort and extended her care and generosity to all of God’s creatures: from stray dogs to neighborhood raccoons.
She was an accomplished cook, gardener, seamstress, and had the ability make everything she touched beautiful, in her "dynamite Diane” way. She loved the Lord and sought to honor God with her life. Her greatest joys were her children Kristen and David. She selflessly devoted her life to the betterment of her children, parents, friends and animals, always thinking of others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marylene and Lambert Suess of Albany, GA and grandparents, Florence and Charlie Walls of Hazlehurst, GA and Frank and Katherine Suess of Buckman, MN.
She is survived by her son David Kelly (Anne) of Tallahassee, FL, daughter Kristen Stevens (Trent) of Leesburg, GA, brothers Gerald Suess and Greg Suess (Tammie) of Albany, GA, aunt Mary Orvin of Albany, GA, uncles Henry Walls (Joyce) of Albany, GA, Billy Walls, Donny Walls, Fritz Suess (Patty) of St. Cloud, MN, and her beloved dogs Maggie, Bailey and Fred.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday before the service at Avalon United Methodist Church.
In honor of Diane, donations can be made to Refuge House Pet Program, allowing survivors of domestic violence to flee with not only their children but also their family pets at P.O. Box 20910, Tallahassee, FL 32316.
