Davis Jefferson McGee of Apalachicola, FL died February 7, 2025 at home from complications of Influenza A. Services were held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Valentines Day with the Reverend Stephen D. Pecot, Celebrant. Father Tom Weller of Panama City, who baptized Davis in the Garden with goldfish pond water brought his wife, Linda and shared his heartfelt memories of Davis. Father Tom considered Davis to be a blessing from God the moment he learned of his existence.
Davis was born with a sparkle and a personality to match. He was protective of all of God's creatures rescuing discarded litters of puppies and kittens and backyard critters requiring a nursemaid. There was zero tolerance for bullies in Davis' mind's eye. He was ferociously protective of those with disabilities, those who were less fortunate than he and especially the elderly.
His random acts of kindness were a gift from God to witness.
Davis was the beloved and cherished child of Mary Day McGee and the late Richard Rentz "Tich" Zingarelli. He leaves behind a vast network of devoted friends with none more special than Alexandra Grace Kowolski and Eden Raichel Rash. Their budding friendship has been the only brightness during this otherwise dark time.
Davis' brother Richard Rentz Zingarelli, II, his sister, Angie J. Mullins and her husband, Jay will always grieve for and miss him. He's also survived by his uncle and Godfather, Robert Jefferson McGee and his wife Constance, his aunt Martha McGee and his cousin Jaime Coley and her husband Will. Davis was fortunate to have a huge Zingarelli family that has always been welcoming, loving and inclusive of everyone for frequent family gatherings.
Davis was preceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jefferson DeWitt McGee, Jr. and Mary Joe Cawley McGee who both adored him. He didn't have the pleasure of knowing his paternal grandparents, Joseph Francis Zingarelli and Marie Rentz Zingarelli. He surely would have loved them had he known them.
