David Jackson Simpson, Sr

David Jackson Simpson, Sr., of Albany, GA., died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Phoebe North Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Avalon United Methodist Church. Rev. Dennis Lanning will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. at College Park Cemetery in Atlanta, GA with military honors.

A native of Atlanta, GA, Mr. Simpson had resided in Albany area since 1973. Mr. Simpson was a retired Lt. Col with the United States Air Force and a veteran of the Viet Nam War. Mr. Simpson graduated from Southern School of Pharmacy which is now Mercer University in 1954. He opened Riverdale Pharmacy in 1960 in Riverdale GA, and then moved to Arlington, GA, where he opened Arlington Rexall Pharmacy in 1973. He retired as a pharmacist in January 2012. He was a member of the Georgia Pharmacy Association, American Legion Post # 30, Riverdale Masonic Lodge # 709 F&AM, Yaarab Shrine Center, Friendship Sunday School Class and Avalon United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his two sons Christopher Keith Simpson and David Jackson Simpson, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah White Simpson, of Albany, GA, his daughter, Deborah Simpson Banister, of Conyers, GA, two daughter-in-laws, Jan Cheney Simpson, of Fayetteville, GA and Cathy Simpson Majors of Albany, GA, two step-sons, Philip R. Dailey, of Friars Hill, WV and Mark T. Dailey, of Powder Springs, GA, two step-daughters, Donna D. McCann, of San Diego, CA and Glenda G. Hasty, of Fayetteville, GA, eight grandchildren, Adam Simpson, Justin Simpson, Tyler Simpson, Ashley S. Hutchins, Allison S. Curington, David Simpson III, Elyse Banister and Lane Banister and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home.

Sam Cook, Dan Ebby. Ron Wolfe, Lamar Hasty, Bill Eppes and Mark Dailey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
