David Richard Judkins

David R. Judkins, 77, of Albany, GA, formerly of St. Augustine, FL, died August, 26, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church. Rev. Jay Weldon will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.

A native of South Paris, ME, he was born to the late Ella Mary Mackenzie Judkins and Fred E. Judkins. Mr. Judkins grew up in Norway, ME and graduated from Norway High School. He was a graduate of Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University and was a student and instructor at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.

Mr. Judkins was employed as a Business Broker with VR Business Associates and as a realtor with Lighthouse Realty Group, both of St. Augustine, FL. He served as a Broker for major motel franchises' including Downtowner Inns, Scottish Inns, Red Carpet Inns, Master Host Inns and Resorts, and Passport Inn.

Mr. Judkins also was the former owner of Surf Village Motel and Cottages in St. Augustine, FL and served as the Chief Executive Officer of First Coast Associates, Wainscot Associates, Colonial Trust, Natick Trust Company, Durham Trust Company and was a Real Estate Broker with The State of NH and Commonwealth of MA.

Mr. Judkins served his community as President of the St. Augustine and St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, the St. Augustine Beach Area Council, the Florida Shore and Beach Preservation Association and was the former Director of the Florida Hotel and Motel Association, District 1.

His government involvement included serving as a Commissioner for the St. Augustine Port, Waterway and Beach Authority, he served as a City Commissioner for St. Augustine, FL, he served on the St. Augustine Beach Planning and Zoning Board, the Beach Sign Committee, the Beach Festival Committee, was Chairman of the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council and Beach Advisory Board, the Tourist Development Council Media for the World Golf Village and served as a Lobbyist for the State of Florida House of Representatives and Senate.

Mr. Judkins was a member of the Rotary Club of St. Augustine, FL, was a member and Past Master of Oxford Masonic Lodge # 18 of Norway, ME, Past Director of the St. Augustine Shrine Club and was a member of and Ambassador at Large for Morocco Shrine Temple in Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl F. Judkins and a sister, Christine E. Guay.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Bridges Judkins of Albany, GA, his children, Wayne A. Judkins of St. George, ME, Sharon Lee Moores and her husband, David of Stratham, NH and Richard Scott Judkins of Ephrata, PA, his grandchildren, Matthew Judkins, Erin Judkins, Tiffany Judkins, Jordan Moores, Kelsey Moores and Reese Moores and a sister, Pat Dewitz of N.H.
