David John Butler

David John Butler, 75, of Albany, GA, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2017 under the comforting attention of Hospice Care at Pruitt Healthcare on Palmyra Road, Albany.  A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery.  Ross Powell will conduct the ceremony.

Born December 17, 1942 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, David lived there until the family was moved to Franklin, Virginia then to Albany where his father was employed as an engineer at the Marine Corps Logistics Base.  David graduated from Albany High School in 1962 and was employed at the Marine Base in Albany for twenty seven years.  He joined The First United Methodist Church of Albany in 1997 and was a faithful member of the services and activities including the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Bailey Butler; his father, Paul K. Butler; and his wife, Anna Reel Butler.

He is survived by a sister, Diana Cherry (Paul) of Raleigh, North Carolina; a stepson, J.W. Reel, Jr. (Sylvia): and grandchildren.

Memorials in honor of David may be made to the Ministries of The First United Methodist Church, Albany, GA.
