David Oswald Brunson

David O. Brunson, 82, of Albany, GA joined the Lord Sunday, December 17, 2023 after a long struggle with kidney disease. A memorial service will be held as part of the Sunday morning service of Westview Baptist Church at 10:00 am on January 7, 2023. His family will have a private spreading of his ashes.

David was born on October 9, 1941 to Bronnie O. and Inez Brunson in Miller County, GA. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962. Upon his release from duty, he obtained his barber’s license and made many friends while barbering at the Palmyra Barber Shop at 3^rd and Slappey Blvd. David took a break from barbering in the early 1980’s to run a small grocery store with his wife. He returned to barbering when he went to work part time at The Barber Shop on Palmyra Road. In 2017, he retired to spend more time with his family. David kept fit by walking at the Albany Mall and his absence is felt by his fellow mall-walkers.

David was a Deacon at the Westview Baptist Church. He continued to make friends and help the church in financial matters. He was a member of Dougherty County Lodge #591 F&AM.  David was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sybil Meritt.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Linda D. Brunson, brother, Paul Brunson and wife Brenda, nephews, Ricky Brunson, Robert Brunson, Les Moore, niece, Kathy Blakey, brother-in-law, Keith Hueston and wife Mary Ann.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a love offering be made to Westview Baptist Church, 2509 Homewood Drive, Albany, GA 31707, or to a charity of your choice.
