Danny Eugene Johnson

Danny Eugene Johnson, 63, of Albany, GA passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Danny Evans and Rev. Mark Spraggins will officiate.

Danny was born to the late Lee Roy and Lorelle Johnson on September 4, 1954 in Hogansville, GA. He attended Hogansville High School until he enlisted in the United States Army. He served our great country from 1972-1974. Danny then married the love of his life, Debra, on April 27, 1975. They moved to Albany in 1976 where he and his wife have resided since.

Danny developed a passion for painting during his ten-year career with Palmyra. With this passion, he started his own paint contracting business. He fostered his relationship with God as a member of First Baptist Church of Putney. He enjoyed playing golf, collecting coins, NASCAR, being outdoors, working on his lawn, watching westerns, and spending time with his dog Roxy. Though he had many hobbies, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, two children, and two grandchildren more than anything.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Johnson, Albany, GA, his son, Danny E. Johnson, Jr. "D.J." and wife Krista, Powder Springs, GA, his daughter, Daphne Johnson Tenney and husband David, Albany, GA, brother, Tommy Johnson, Cordele, GA, sisters Dolly Bonner, Americus, GA, Patricia Moody, LaGrange, GA, and two grandchildren, Janie Hale and Mason Johnson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
