Dale Alan Baker, 62, of Albany, GA died September 13, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Stan Glass will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A native and lifelong resident of Albany, GA, Dale graduated from Westover High School in 1972 and continued his education at the University of Georgia and Georgia Southwestern University where he earned a Bachelor's in Political Science and English Literature. He also attained an MBA in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix in 1991.
He had an affinity for his Southern roots and an empathetic spirit for mankind otherwise forgotten by society. He retired from the Marine Corps Logistic Base in Albany, GA and received an award as the Marine Corps Logistic Base Disabled Employee of The Year in 1989. Dale also graduated as a Navy Logistic Acquisition Intern in 1991. He served on Goodwill Industries Board of Directors, but he considered his greatest accomplishment was his role as a Father to his twin children. Dale was also an accomplished musician and lover of fine arts.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon H. Baker of and his twin children, Caleb Ethan Baker and Callie Elizabeth Baker, his father, Elton E. Baker of Albany, GA, a brother, Robert Watson Baker of Albany, GA, a nephew, Dr. Paul J. Baker of Providence , RI, a niece, Amy Rebeccajane Baker of Boston, MA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jewel Baker.
The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
