Cynthia "Cindy" Taranto Sturtz

Cynthia Taranto Sturtz, 56, of Leesburg, GA passed away May 23, 2023 at Advent Health Celebration Hospital in Celebration, FL. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Barry Hall will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery, Leesburg, GA.

Cynthia Fay Sturtz was born in Waltham, MA to Phillip and Fay Toranto. The middle child in a family of five girls, Cindy was known for her playful, loving energy. Cindy graduated from Lee County High School in 1984 and began her working career shortly thereafter. Cindy excelled in an position serving others, which showed throughout her professional life in retail and child development.

In 1988, Cindy became a mother with the birth of her daughter Holly, the first of three children. Cindy met Dennis, the love of her life in 1991 and in 1992 they began their thirty-one year marriage together. Cindy and Dennis had two children together, Dennis and Nicholas. Cindy was an incredible woman, mother and wife. she was deeply devoted to her family and was always looking out for their well being.

Over the course of their thirty-one year journey, Dennis and Cindy made homes in North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and Michigan. Wherever Cindy went she was known for her sharp wit, beautiful smile and loving heart.

Mrs. Sturtz was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Leo Taranto and Alice Fay Scott Taranto.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Sturtz, Leesburg, GA, children, Holly Woods, Leesburg, GA, Dennis Sturtz, III (Lucile Ann Simkins), Columbus, GA, Nicholas Taylor Sturtz, Gross Pointe Woods, MI, siblings, Pamela Fletcher (Edwin), Dawson, GA, Paula Lewis (Gordy), Brenda Ferguson, Barbara Hughes (Greg) and grandchildren, Jonathan Tanner Lee and Brock Sellman all of Leesburg, GA

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
