Curtis Lee Yates, 90 of Albany, GA died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Gillionville Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Haefs and Rev. Roy Cook will officiate. Graveside services will follow Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Singer's Glen Cemetery in Singer's Glen, VA.

A native of Washington D.C., Mr. Yates graduated from Maryland Park High School and graduated from Bliss Electrical School. He was a World War II Army Veteran and served in the 3rd Signal Corps Battalion. Mr. Yates was employed with Western Electric (now Lucent Technologies) as an electrical engineer and retired after thirty nine years. He had resided in Albany, GA since 1992 moving from Oakland, NJ. He was a member of Gillionville Baptist Church and the Micah Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Elinor Yates of Albany, GA, three daughters, Pamela Yates Roshio and her husband, David of Albany, GA, Lorie Piel and her husband, Donald of Naperville, IL and Jennifer Yates of Berkley, CA, two sisters, Betty Lou Hagenkotter of Tampa, FL and Lois Wilson of Jensen Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Daniel Roshio and his wife, Julie of Tucson, AZ, Erin Roshio of Norcross, GA and Anders Lee Piel of Naperville, IL and two great-grandchildren, Curtis Michael Roshio and Christian Ira Roshio.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at Gillionville Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Gillionville Baptist Church Building Fund, 4614 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31721.
