Curtis E. Kennedy, 68, of Albany, was called home to our Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Arcadia Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Ronnie Arrington will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Curtis was born in Dale County on November 29, 1946 to Rose Lee Young and Higgins Kennedy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S Marine Corps from 1966 - 1990. He earned several awards including the Purple Heart, Nation Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and a Presidential Unit Citation. Mr. Curtis was a member of Arcadia Missionary Baptist Church.
Preceding him to death were his parents Rose Lee Young and Higgins Kennedy as well as his step-father Lowis Young, and step brother David Young.
Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife Irene Kennedy, his sons: Curtis L. Kennedy of Millen, GA, Michael E. Kennedy of Albany, GA, and daughter Philicia K. Duncan and her husband Rohan Duncan of Atlanta, GA; 4 grandchildren; sister Maxine Bryant of Newark, NJ. And Step-sister Rena Mae Richardson of Miami, FL. A dear friend Mattie Morgan; a host of sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 11, 2015 at Mathews Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
