Clyde Everette Lane, (Major USMC, Ret.), 82, of Albany, GA, died September 27, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Albany. Rev. Bruce English will officiate. A committal service will follow at 5:00 PM in the Screven Memorial Cemetery in Sylvania, GA. Dr. Timothy Lane will officiate. The United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will present Military Honors.
A native of Garnett, SC, Mr. Lane grew up in Sylvania, GA and graduated from Screven County High School. He graduated from Georgia Teachers College, now Georgia Southern University and joined The United States Marine Corps, where he served in Vietnam from 1966-1967.
Mr. Lane was transferred from Philadelphia, PA to Albany, GA in 1976 and retired in 1978. After his retirement, he was employed with the Dougherty County School System at Albany High School for eighteen years. Mr. Lane was a member and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at the First Baptist Church of Albany.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn R. Lane of Albany, GA, a son, Dr. Timothy Stanley Lane and his wife, Barbara of Fayetteville, GA, a daughter, Brooke Geissler of Albany, GA and six grandchildren, Lane Geissler Greene, Hannah Lane Myer, Emily Elise Geissler, Timothy Josiah Lane, Esther Kathryn Lane and Benjamin Tryals Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Patrick Lane and Helen Stanley Lane, a brother, David Lane, all of Sylvania and a son, Benjamin Everette Lane.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at First Baptist Church of Albany.
