Claus Hans Vinent

Claus Hans Vinent, 63, of Leesburg, GA, died July 6, 2014 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Harris will officiate.

Born in Kassel, Germany, Mr. Vinent moved to the United States to Fayetteville, NC and graduated from Camden Military Academy. He served in the US Army during Vietnam and moved to the Albany area in 1974 from Fayetteville, NC. to help with the construction of the Sears and Roebuck Store being built in the Albany Mall. Mr. Vinent was a founding member of the Lee County Chamber of Commerce and was the owner of Floor Mechanix. He attended Philema Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jody Strickland Vinent of Lee County, GA, a son, Colden Vinent and a daughter, Bryanna Vinent both of Albany, GA, a step-son, Eric Kyle Newell of Lee County, GA, two brothers, Dickie Vinent and his wife Della and Manuel Vinent all of Fayetteville, NC, two sisters, Aida Garrard, Raleigh, NC and Ingeborg Watson and her husband, Jason from Henrico, NC.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
