Clara Faye Nance Ransom, 82, of Albany, GA passed peacefully at her home with her family Sunday, July 10, 2022. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Al Lewis will officiate.

Born in Peachland, NC on August 26, 1939, Clara was the fourth of six children.  Clara was always close to her siblings which notably were born boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl with all 3 boys left-handed and all three girls right-handed.  Clara and Fred married in 1962 and moved to Albany in 1971 where they raised their four children.  They were married for 50 years before Fred passed in 2012.  Clara loved her entire family, fishing, and trips back home to NC, or any beach or mountain destination.  Known for her scratch biscuits and skillet fried chicken, Clara was also a gracious host and was happiest when her home was full of family where eating and story-telling was on order. Clara loved Christmas and her ever present holiday decor.

She was a member of the Albany Gospel Chapel and was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Raymond Nance and Jean Beamon Nance, her husband, Fredrick Ransom and sons, Tony and Vic Ransom.

Survivors include a daughter, Clara Ransom Burgess, Albany, GA, son, Raymond Lewis Ransom (Reshma Kakkar), Atlanta, brothers, Bill Nance, Mt. Pleasant, NC, Duran Nance, Sanford, NC, sister, Jane Murray, Lake Royale, NC, three granddaughters, one grandson and three great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends following the services at the cemetery.
