Christine Powell McConnell, 86, of Albany, GA, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Born in Plant City, FL, Mrs. McConnell had resided in Albany, GA since 1957 moving from Bainbridge, GA. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Candy Dan Powell and Ellie V. Day Powell, her husband, Charlie Less McConnell, Sr., two sons, David Earl McConnell and Charlie Less McConnell, Jr., a daughter, Patricia Jeffcoat and three sisters, Bertha Dorsey, Nettie Poitvient Worth and Hilda Murkerson.
Survivors include, four sons, Edward McConnell, Worth Co., GA, DeWayne McConnell, Michael McConnell and Bradley McConnell all of Albany, GA, four daughters, Louise Womack, Lee Co., GA, Mary Ann Hipps, Baconton, GA, Judy Goree, Putney, GA and Janice Reddell, Albany, GA, a sister, Evelyn West, Albany, GA, forty grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of Jimmy and Judy Goree, 4501 Stagecoach Rd., Putney, GA and all are welcome.
