Chester "Chet"Harold Brown, 63, of Lee County, GA died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Raymond Levreault will officiate.

A native of Providence RI, Mr. Brown was born to the late Chester Harold Brown, Sr. and Gladys May Hetu. Chester served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was part of the SeaBees war time construction battalion. Chet was a dedicated family man who loved to laugh and practiced his faith in his actions.

He was employed by Boyd Brothers Construction and worked as a welder, fabricator, and mechanic for many years. He was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church, VFW Post # 2785, Fraternal Order of the Moose, and enjoyed participating in Mountain Man festival during Frontier Days every year during the second weekend January.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Tracie Griffis Brown, a daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Ricky Porter of Camp Lejeune, NC, a son, Chester Harold Brown, Jr of Leesburg, GA. Six brothers, Scott (Barbara) Brown of Ashburn, GA, Howard (Nancy) Brown of Warwick, RI, Bobby (Martha) Brown of Savannah, GA, Kenny (Shirley) Brown of Warwick, RI, Richard Cidroni of Worchester, MA, and Charles Brown of Pascove, RI. One sister in-law, Rose Cabral Brown and numerous nieces and nephews who were extremely special to him also survive.


The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral on Saturday at Mathews Funeral Home and at other times at their home.
